Heart of God Haiti shares your desire to see kids grow up in families and receive educational opportunities that will be a blessing to their future, family, communities and country. In order to connect with these children, you need a trustworthy liaison who truly understands the immense challenges Haitian families endure and has face to face relationships with the children and their families. The problem of no access to free education or government assistance and a vast number of families seeking help makes it difficult to feel you can make a difference or know where to start. We believe all people are created in God’s image, children belong in families, and the Church and society should come alongside these families to see the next generation grow into their God given abilities and purpose. We know there are many families in need of assistance, yet we have learned an even greater need is understanding how to meet these needs in the best ways without creating cycles of dependency or other unintended harm that can result without a strong relationship present. This is why the priority is building relationships that enable needs to be understood and met with best practice.
Here is how we do this:
1. 10+ years living and working on the ground in Haitian communities, identifying the most vulnerable children and leading barriers to family preservation while building long-term relationships with families, children, schools and communities.
2. Advocating for high risk kids susceptible to exploitation, trafficking, orphanage relinquishment and domestic servitude due to extreme circumstances and poverty.
3. Providing HOPE through educational scholarships while building relationships that invite us inside homes and schools with an open door for the gospel!
