Haitian Proverb October 15th

“Pa kite yè gaspiye jodi a.”

Translation: “Don’t let yesterday waste today.”

We all make mistakes and have regrets. But this proverb reminds me of the words of the Apostle Paul in Philippians 3:13-14,

“…one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Paul said that he will not let the failures of the past prevent him from using today to pursue the goals God had for his life. We must have the same attitude for our own lives. Todays is a new day, so with our Haitian brothers and sisters, I say, “pa kite yè gaspiye jodi a.”
