Marie Elande is home! Dr. Bernard is amazing. I was nervous we would have to fight to get her out of the hospital today but we approached Dr. Bernard, he looked at her charts, and gave her the okay to leave. It was kind of sad leaving the other ladies in the room, not knowing when their triumphant day of departure would come, but they were happy for Marie. Losentia, Marie’s sister, had come with Delcarme, one of our workers, in the morning so we spent the afternoon all hanging out outside together, eating rice and beans from our favorite barbecue spot, enjoying the fresh air, waiting for our friend Simon to come pick us up. Once he arrived, around 3:30, we all piled in among propane tanks and water jugs (Simon was helping us out retrieving these items for us) and made our way up the mountain. We were hot, squished, and tired but very happy to be going home. Marie’s mom came too and actually is staying the night which might make this the best day Marie has had in a awhile. Her stomach is still a bit swollen and there are stitches so now we pray for the healing process to be infection free. I will post some before and after pictures soon. Thanks again for all the past, present, and future prayers for our Marie Elande.
