The other day we had some visitors from Open Door Baptist Church, Tracy, John, and John and their driver Friztnel. This group spent some time playing with the kids, singing songs with them, and handing out some lollipops. The kids absolutely loved having people around. Ezechiel, Loudina, and Bianca all laid claim to Tracy’s lap for most of the day. John taught the kids how to sing the b-i-b-l-e song while the other John and Fritznel passed around the soccer ball with the older boys. To make the day even better, each kid received a bunch of new, homemade clothes that were sewn by some women from the Open Door Baptist Church.
The next day, Sunday, the kids were super excited to show off their new outfits. When some of the boys found out they had the same outfit they immediately threw their arms around each other’s necks and walked around the center like a chain of Siamese twins. The best part was that the boys’ pants had an open fly, like boxer shorts often do. They had no idea what this was…they thought the women had forgotten to sew that part up. So I explained to them that it makes it easier for them when they have to pee. Oh did they laugh. And then mimed how they would go about doing so at which point I told them I didn’t need to be involved in the conversation anymore.
Funny boys.
So thank you to all the ladies who worked hard to give our kids some beautiful new church clothes. And thank you to Tracy, John, John, and Friztnel for spending some quality time with the kids. I know they enjoyed the attention. 🙂
