Last Day of School!

I figured since it’s the end of the school year I would make a yearbook style superlative list. These are just my observations but I promise they are spot on.

Best Smile: Marie Elande…she has beautiful straight white teeth that makes her smile pop.

Best Hair: Nerlande…now I mean best hair in that it always catches my eye because 9 times out of 10 it is some sort of disarray- half braided, fro-ed out preparing for braids, braided with cool patterns thanks to her mom…it always looks interesting that is for sure.

Best Laugh: Jean Fiderse because his laugh makes him sound like a mad scientist who just brought the dead back to life…seriously. And Jude because his laugh immediately puts a smile on your face.

Class Clown: Loudina…if she isn’t randomly dancing she is saying something that makes the kids laugh or doing something just plain silly like high fiving me with her forehead.

Most Artistic: Samantha…whenever I give the kids a blank piece of paper she always makes beautiful flowers and houses and dolls and chickens of course.

Funniest: Bianca…something about this kid makes me laugh daily…she has the most ridiculous run and is always making goofy faces or laughing.

Best Athlete: Emmanuel…I am convinced he would be an amazing gymnast but also has good soccer skills. He juggles the ball pretty well for a little guy. Also Ednel…he played basketball for probably the first time in his life last month and can dribble better than the older boys. He just needs to grow a little more before he can start dunking.

Most Outgoing: Jolike…he is usually the first to start talking when we have teams visiting. He is never afraid to chat with me in English and always likes to be sent to buy things in town.

Nicest Person: Ezechiel…he is just a genuinely nice kid. Everyone loves him and he rarely gets in arguments with other kids.

Quietest: Fegens…outside if English class he is usually fairly quiet. I think it is because he is an older brother, more observant and pensive.

Best Dancer: Samson…I catch him dancing at least once a day. Many days he dances when we sing songs in English class. His favorite move looks like something from the 70’s.

Best Dressed: Anderson…he is always the first dressed in the mornings. His uniform is clean and straight, his shirt tucked in perfectly on school days. His prized converse sneakers are always spotless.

Best Musician: Reginald…if he isn’t making his own guitar he is drumming on old cans out in the yard. He makes some nice beats too.

Best Voice: Nadine…this girl can belt it out. I absolutely love at night while we are all in our beds, sometimes Nadine will sing some hymns before we all go to sleep.

Most Helpful: Natacha…she helps the women in the mornings prepare hot water and get food ready. She looks after the little ones frequently. She offers to clean my sandals or my room or anything she can think of. Definitely our best helper around here.

Most Talkative: Losentia…I am constantly telling this girl to just stop talking. She seriously talks just for the heck of it sometimes.

Congratulations to all our kids for finishing the school year and here’s to next school year when hopefully we won’t be late as many mornings as we were this year.
